Therapy for High-Functioning Adults Who Feel Overloaded, Stuck, or Emotionally Drained

Helping disciplined people in Pennsylvania gain clarity, emotional control, and forward movement when life looks fine on the outside but feels heavy underneath.

Who I Help

I work with high-functioning adults who are responsible, disciplined, and used to carrying a lot.

On the outside, you may be working, leading, serving, parenting, studying, building a business, or showing up for everyone else. But internally, you may feel anxious, irritable, stuck, emotionally tired, disconnected, or unsure of your next step.

This work may be a good fit if you:

  • Look like you have it together but feel overwhelmed inside

  • Struggle with overthinking, anxiety, anger, avoidance, or emotional shutdown

  • Want more consistency, discipline, and direction

  • Feel pressure from work, relationships, family, faith, school, or business

  • Are tired of repeating the same patterns

  • Want therapy that is honest, practical, and focused on growth

You do not have to be falling apart to start therapy. Sometimes the work is about becoming more steady, honest, and intentional before things get worse.

If this sounds familiar, you can request an appointment to begin the intake process.

About Your Therapist

I’m Jashawn Kelly, a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

I work with adults who are high-functioning on the outside but privately feel mentally overloaded, emotionally strained, anxious, stuck, or disconnected.

Many people are used to pushing through, staying responsible, and handling things alone. That can work for a while — until the pressure starts showing up as anxiety, irritability, avoidance, burnout, inconsistency, relationship tension, or trouble being present.

My approach is grounded, direct, and collaborative. I draw from person-centered therapy and cognitive-behavioral principles to help you understand your patterns, regulate your emotions, make clearer decisions, and build consistency in the areas that matter most.

Therapy with me is not endless talking with no direction. It is focused, practical work for people who want clarity, emotional control, structure, and forward movement.

I work best with clients who value honesty, responsibility, growth, and consistency — and who are ready to take the work seriously.

If this sounds like what you’re looking for, you can request an appointment to begin the intake process.

What We Work On

Anxiety and overthinking
Learning how to slow your mind down, challenge unhelpful patterns, and respond with more clarity.

Anger and emotional control
Understanding what is underneath irritability, defensiveness, shutdown, or emotional reactions.

Discipline and consistency
Building realistic structure so you can follow through without relying only on motivation.

Relationships and communication
Learning how to express yourself clearly, set boundaries, and stay grounded in difficult conversations.

Faith, values, and direction
For clients who want it included, therapy can include reflection on faith, values, identity, and decision-making.

F.A.Q

  • I work with people who are high-functioning on the outside but feel mentally overloaded, stuck, or emotionally strained beneath the surface. Many of my clients value discipline, responsibility, and personal growth, but want a private, grounded space to regain clarity and steadiness.

  • This may not be a good fit if you’re looking for crisis services, court-mandated therapy, or insurance-based treatment. I work best with individuals who are able to invest in private-pay therapy and are ready to engage consistently in the process.

  • Sessions are 45 minutes and held via secure telehealth. Most clients meet weekly or bi-weekly, depending on their needs and availability. We’ll decide on a pace that supports progress without adding unnecessary pressure.

  • I work on a private-pay basis and do not bill insurance directly. Clients pay for sessions at the time of booking. A superbill can be provided for those who wish to seek out-of-network reimbursement from their insurance provider.

  • Sessions are $175 for 45 minutes. Payment is handled securely online. I maintain a limited caseload to provide focused, attentive work with each client. I can provide a superbill for clients who wish to seek possible out-of-network reimbursement, and HSA/FSA funds may be used when applicable.

  • My work is collaborative, structured, and practical. I draw from person-centered and cognitive-behavioral principles to help clients build awareness, emotional regulation, and consistency. The goal is not endless talking, but clarity and forward movement.

  • Individual therapy focuses on one-on-one sessions between you and the therapist. Couples therapy involves working with you and your partner to address relationship issues and improve communication. Family therapy involves sessions with multiple family members to improve relationships and resolve conflicts.

  • I am licensed to provide therapy services in Pennsylvania only. If you are located outside of PA, I am unable to provide therapy but may be able to offer resources.

  • You can request an appointment through the scheduling link.

Before beginning therapy, you will complete intake paperwork so I can better understand what you are looking for, what you are struggling with, and whether my services are an appropriate fit.

If it appears that your needs are outside my scope of practice, I will let you know and may recommend a more appropriate level of care or provider.
